The 2010 season marks the 40th anniversary of the return of football to Benedictine College under head coach John Baricevic. In addition to the anniversary of the modern era of Raven football this season, this is the 50th anniversary of the 1960 7-1 CIC Championship team, the 25th anniversary of the 1985 10-0 regular season squad which finished the year at No. 2 in the NAIA, the 15th anniversary of the 1995 undefeated HAAC Champions and the 10th year anniversary of the 2000 HAAC Champion squad who finished the season ranked No. 3 in the NAIA. If the Benedictine College Lady Ravens continue to play like they did in their 3-0 season-opening win over Hannibal-LaGrange Friday night, fans of the red and black are in for a doozy of a season.
The Benedictine College men’s soccer team will open the 2010 campaign right where it left off: as the No. 10 team in the country.
The NAIA released its preseason coaches poll this week, and the Ravens — who entered the national tournament last season with a No. 10 ranking — has the same spot heading into this season.
