Head coach Brandon Wilkes didn’t come away from Maur Hill-Mount Academy’s 14-8 loss to Doniphan West Friday convinced his team is going to win a game this year.

He was convinced the Ravens are going to win a bunch of games.

He’s not alone.

New league; same rivalry

Even the fans were sweating it out Tuesday when former Big 7 league rivals Maur Hill-Mount Academy and Atchison County Community High School squared off in the first volleyball match as members of the Delaware Valley League.

Sure, it was because the air conditioning wasn’t working, but it was still intense.

Immaculata welcomes MH-MA to the DVL with 9-1 whooping

The Maur Hill-Mount Academy soccer team has played Immaculata before, but Friday’s season-opener was the first time the two squads faced off as league rivals.

The Raiders will go down as the first team to beat new Delaware Valley League entrant MH-MA after a 9-1 stomping.

So much for a polite welcome.

Atchison County Community High School and Maur Hill-Mount Academy moved to the Delaware Valley League for one reason: to give each athlete a chance for victory every time they suit up.

New MH-MA prez not wasting any time

New Maur Hill-Mount Academy president Phil Baniewicz made a lot of promises when he took over on April 1.

Less than 100 days later, it’s become pretty obvious that he isn’t much of a procrastinator.

Time is of the essence for MH-MA in Leavenworth tournament

The Maur Hill-Mount Academy summer baseball team had an interesting experience at its first tournament this past weekend in Leavenworth.

When the tournament had a team drop out a few weeks ago, officials changed it to a one-day event. That meant all the games had to be played within a 90-minute time limit so that all 13 games could be played on one day.

MH-MA shut out in Sabetha

Sabetha had quite a surprise for Maur Hill-Mount Academy when its visitors arrived for a game Saturday.

“We thought we were mostly playing the junior team,” said MH-MA head coach Brian Kane, whose team had played only one game prior to Saturday.

MH-MA legion team wins debut over Junior A's

Maur Hill-Mount Academy never had its own legion baseball team until this summer.

MH-MA hires new football coach

  Brandon Wilkes has experience with winless teams turning it around.

Before his first season of varsity football in his Michigan high school, the team went 0-9. The next season, they got a new head coach and were quickly in the state playoffs.

New coach, new league, new look for MH-MA

Maur Hill-Mount Academy President Phil Baniewicz said they were going one of two ways.

Either hire a football coach who has been around forever with a ton of wins, or grab a young guy with energy, passion and a newer outlook on the game.

They went with the latter.
