| The Atchison County Fair wants you | We here at the Globe, encourage one and all to join the fun and at some point attend the 104th annual Atchison County Fair that commences today and continues throughout the week until Sat. |  | | A tax by any other name | Sometimes, it’s all in the packaging. On the surface, it would appear that city leaders are holding the line with their $13.9 million budget. The budget calls for no increase to the 57.181 mill levy for 2011, which sounds nice and cheery for homeowners who can expect to see no increase in their property taxes. Monday, July 26, 2010

Atchison was already a city with more buildings than local government funding could afford to maintain (nor find suitable uses for).
