Westar wins battle over tree trimming

At least eight trees were cut down in the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Atchison after negotiations resulted in dismissal of a civil lawsuit filed in protest to loss of Atchison Street trees between 12th and 14th.

At least eight trees were cut down in the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Atchison after negotiations resulted in dismissal of a civil lawsuit filed in protest to loss of Atchison Street trees between 12th and 14th.
Trees are down and Westar Energy power poles are up along the south sidewalks in the 1200 and 1300 blocks of Atchison Street. A new power line is going up despite protests to the cutting of trees between 12th and 14th streets.
